Core Virtues
Core virtues are taught through a literature-based program and practiced throughout the day as occasions arise. This month's core virtue is RESPECT. We respect others as well as our own gifts and talents.

Thematic Units
The Academy teaches in thematic units, and the first of the year is the Solar System. Many activities surrounding this theme are included in each day's learning for all students, adjusted to their class level. The theme for half of September and the beginning of October is Pioneers. We will study how they lived, westward expansion, do some crafts, read books about pioneers, take some field trips, and more.

School Goals
  • Goal 1: Academically Challenging Mathematics
  • Goal 2: Academically Challenging Reading
  • Goal 3: Character Education
  • Goal 4: Applied Leadership
  • Goal 5: Professional Development

Sterling College Education Students
Sterling College and Sterling Academy have a partnership which allows Education Majors to work at the Academy for college credit or work-study or as part of a class experience. These clinical teachers gain experience as well as provide us with added enthusiasm and expertise in many areas. Individualized attention and small groups enable our students to get valuable assistance.
