| The literacy coach/at risk position was created for the 2006-2007 school year to facilitate teachers and students in reading techniques and skills. As a literacy coach, I will be in the classrooms and working with students one-on-one to enhance reading. The State of Kansas mandates that all schools have an at risk program designed to be of assistance for all students who might be under pressure due to low academic progress, self-esteem issues or family situations. I believe that all adolescents are at risk in one way or another and I hope to work with the administrators and counselor to identify situations before they arise in hopes or warding off more serious problems. |
