Introduction to the FACS (Family and Consumer Science) Department will include the familiarity of FCCLA, the student organization, and its purpose and benefit in the school and community. Food handling, safety, and sanitation will precedent the science of nutrition and lab applications and at the same time, team building among peers. Consumerism related to clothing construction and care will be examined with a required individual sewing project. Babysitting techniques and age appropriate activities and snacks will be compiled. Careers in the FACS domain will be researched by examining education requirements, job description, and outlook.
