Allen White Book Award
The
William
Allen White Award winners are chosen by the children of
Kansas.
To participate, any Kansas student in grades 3-8 must read at least two
books from the list of nominees to be eligible to vote. Students
will have the opportunity to vote in April 2009. See a list of past

Newbery
Medal and Honor Books
The
Newbery
Medal is awarded to the "author of the most distinguished
contribution

Bill
Martin, Jr. Picture Book Award
Since
1996, this award has honored Kansas author Bill Martin, Jr. by
recognizing
outstanding literature and promoting quality picture books. The
winner
is chosen annually by members of the Kansas Reading Association.

Caldecott
Medal and Honor Books
This
special
award is given for outstanding illustrations in a children's
book.
