The annual Sterling Grade School Halloween parade will be held Friday, October 30th, weather permitting. We are changing our route this year because of the length of the parade. We are going to parade around Sterling Lake and then return to school. Students will be distanced between classes. We will start with Pre-school classes at 1:30 pm and dismiss by grade level. Pre-school students in the parade will get to ride the Sterling Chamber of Commerce train. Individual classes will be spaced apart with each class leaving the building in 5 minute increments. (See schedule below) We will be leaving the school and heading south on 5th street across the footbridge to the lake. The parade is open to the public and spectators are encouraged to park around the lake and watch the kids as they parade around the lake, being sure to keep a safe distance from the kids.
The costume parade is available to all students. If any parent would prefer that their child not participate in the parade, simply notify your teacher so that arrangements can be made. Traditional costumes are welcome. Simple and home-made ideas are also encouraged. Weapons should not be a part of the costume and please refrain from using grotesque or bloody makeup in your child’s costumes. The school will have the final say on costume appropriateness and what will be allowed in the parade.
Because of our Covid safety precautions, our school will continue to only allow students and staff into the school building. Please take this into consideration when sending costumes to school with your child as they will have limited help getting dressed. Also, we will still have Halloween classroom parties but snacks and activities are provided by the school and our Bear Cub Backers. A big thank you to Bear Cub Backers for all their help with “party packs” this year. We are looking forward to continuing this long standing tradition and thank you for your understanding and continued support.
