Our online Scholastic Book Fair opens today! The online book fair will run Oct. 28-Nov. 10 with books shipping to customers’ homes.
In addition, the SGS Library will be hosting an in-person Scholastic Book Fair November 2-6, 2020! The theme for this fall is Time Machine: Reading Can Take You Anywhere! We will be offering an in-person fair for our students and staff with an online book fair running simultaneously to keep with our current policy of having no parents or outside visitors in the building.
K-6 classes will be scheduled to visit the book fair for a preview Oct. 28-30 and will come back a second time to purchase items Nov. 2-6. Students and staff members will be able to make purchases during the school day, but parents and community members won't be coming into the school building to shop. The book fair will not be open after school or in the evening. All purchases from our in-person and online fairs help us earn free books for the school library.
Our in-person book fair will follow the same COVID safety procedures being used for library checkout. Students may browse a cart of books with washed/sanitized hands while wearing a mask just like they do for library checkout in their classrooms. One class at a time will visit the book fair. In addition, Scholastic is employing a variety of safety measures to ensure that book fair shopping is safe for everyone.
“We are excited to be able to offer this highly anticipated event,” said book fair chairperson Michelle Miller.
The online fair offers a new “Virtual Book Fair” 360 degree view that simulates the experience of shopping off the book fair carts.
