We had a very successful, in-person book fair September 20-22, 2021, in the activity area between the SGS library and the music rooms.  Here are some highlights:

  • Total number of books sold this Fair: 652+
  • Our pre-tax sales volume was second best in school fair history, totaling over $5,419 with an additional $181 in online sales.  We earned a net profit of $2,754!  The SGS library chose to spend $392 of that amount on books from the book fair tables.  The remaining $2,362 will be used to purchase new books and instructional materials for our library.
  • Our loose change “All for Books” donations totaled $85.48, the result of many customers rounding up to the nearest dollar at the cash register and donating cash.  This was used to purchase approximately 10 new books for our students and our libraries.  Additionally, Scholastic Book Fairs matches monetary donations with a donation of up to one million books to two non-profit organizations--Kids in Need Foundation and Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc.

A HUGE thank you is extended to our school and community who helped make our book fair successful. Special thanks to Brennan Riffel, Mark Britton, Diana Krone, Lesa Flickinger, Rene Wilson, Chad Farris, Tracy McGlynn, Lori Gillespie, Seneca Bates, Annette Boyd, Jenny Dyson and Andrea Kilgore.

We're looking forward to hosting another fair in the spring.  Mark your calendars for the Spring Book Fair coinciding with Parent/Teacher Conferences on April 11-13, 2022.
