Sterling Invitational anniversary

Are you ready for some basketball?  How about celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Sterling Invitational boys tournament or supporting your local girl's basketball program?  Well, come enjoy some great basketball games starting on Monday, January 17th, and running through Friday, January 21st.  The boy's tournament will be hosted once again on the campus of Sterling College in the newly remodeled Gleason Center.  Those fans interested in watching girls basketball can attend the games at Sterling High School. Admission for the games is $7 for adults and $5 for students.  Admission paid at one site is good for the other site on the same night.

The Sterling High School Black Bears are the #3 seed this year.  The game will tip-off on Monday at 7:30 pm in the Gleason Center against Lyons. With a win, the Black Bears will play on Thursday at 6 against the winner of Kingman and Scott City.  The losers of the two games will play on Tuesday at 3 pm.

The Lady Black Bears are the #1 seed and face HOA rival Hutchinson-Trinity on Monday at 6:30 pm in the Ora Shields Activity Center.  With a win, the Lady Bears will play on Thursday at 6 pm against the winner of Smoky Valley and Scott City.  The two teams that lose on opening night will play on Tuesday at 3 pm in OSAC.

Those fans interested in learning more about each team participating in this year's tournament, updated tournament brackets, watching games being played at both sites, or even learning more about the 50 years of the Sterling Invitational will want to visit the Sterling Invitational website.

USD376 wishes the Black Bears, Lady Bears, and coaches the best of luck this season!
