Each November high school basketball players lace up their shoes with the goal of playing in the state tournament and winning the title.  Well, Sterling High School has two teams that believe it can happen.  The Lady Bears enter the Sublette sub-state as the top seed having gone 20-0 and winning the HOA title for the fifth season.  The Black Bears won the  HOA title as well and wrapped up the regular season 15-5 to earn the second seed in their sub-state. The first step for both teams to return to the 2A State Championship in Manhattan on March 9-12 starts this week.

The Lady Bears will host Sublette on Monday, February 28th at 6 pm in the Ora Shields Activity Center.  With a victory, the ladies would face either Medicine Lodge or Syracuse in Sublette on Thursday, March 3rd at 6 pm.

The Black Bears will tip-off at 6 pm on Tuesday against Syracuse in the Ora Shields Activity Center. With a win, the boys will travel to Sublette on Friday, March 4th at 6:00 pm to face either Elkhart or Medicine Lodge.

The sub-state championship games will take place on Saturday, March 5th in Sublette.  The two teams that make it to the girl's matchup will tip-off at 5:30 pm.  The boy's championship game will start approximately 20 minutes later.
