The JV football game scheduled for today against Chaparral has been canceled.
Jh/HS Individual sports pictures are tomorrow (9/21) morning at 8am. The information below is what you will need to pay online or in person. We are going with a new company this year named Inter State Studio. Please visit: www.inter-state.com/order Our school code is:52408BA If you need to pay by check or cash, please bring money to the office along with what package you would like and we will get you an envelope. Please note: NO GROUP PICTURES WILL BE TAKEN. Due to covid restrictions we will only have Individual pictures taken. If you have questions, please email McKenzi at firstname.lastname@example.org
If you are headed to tonight’s football game in Chaparral, please be aware that there is a bridge out south of Kingman. If you take the detour, it will take you an extra 20 minutes to get there. You may also turn south on Zenda road to shorten the detour.
Attention high school volleyball and tennis parents. Hutch Trinity and Smoky Valley will be limiting fans to 2 per participant this Saturday for their respective activities. There will not be tickets handed out. You will tell the gate person who you are there to watch. Also, please remember to pick up tickets for junior high games tonight and high school football tomorrow in the office.
Dear SGS Parents, Our fall parent/teacher conferences are scheduled for next week. With the recent increase of Covid rates in the county, we will be changing the format of our conferences and will be using Google Meet or will conduct conferences over the phone instead of face to face meetings. Your child's classroom teacher(s) should be in communication with you regarding the time, date and format of your conference. It is our hope that by taking these precautions we will be able to help reduce the risk of exposure. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in keeping our kids safe and our schools open.
This is a reminder that school is dismissed at 12:30 tomorrow (Wednesday).
For those of you traveling to Inman and Chaparral for activities this week, there are restrictions on the number of fans. Inman is allowing 4 fans per participant for junior high volleyball and football. Chaparral is allowing 225 total, so we are giving out 5 tickets per participant. At this time, we are asking parents to come to the high school office during normal school hours to get their participants tickets. This ticket only allows you a spot at the game, you still have to pay admission once you get there. Once all parents have received their tickets, we will let you know if there are extras. PLEASE let relatives know they will NOT be admitted without a ticket.
Sterling will not be attending the JV volleyball tournament tomorrow, September 12th in Lyons.

We are looking forward to the first day of school tomorrow and seeing our kids! When you arrive at school on Monday with your student please do not park right in front of the Kindergarten (West) doors. A good place to park would be on the north or south or sides of the school if you are bringing your student to school. Once you approach the school, you will see a screening station. Your child will have their temperature taken with a touchless thermometer that can read their forehead. If they have a temperature of 100.3 or less, they will be allowed to enter the school. As a safety precaution, parents will not be allowed to enter the building with their student but parents may come to the office through the main entrance if you need anything. Remember to have your student wear their mask! We are looking forward to a great school year! Doors will unlock at 7:45. Please do not arrive earlier than that. Also, the playground will be closed in the mornings. Once students enter the school, they will need to report directly to their classrooms. ● PreK-2nd grade will enter through the west doors by the Kindergarten room. ● Grades 3-4 will enter through the main doors. ● Grades 5-6 will enter through the north doors. ● Bus riders will enter through the east doors. ● Breakfast eaters will report to the cafeteria but will take their breakfast and eat in their classrooms. Remember that the first day we will dismiss at 12:30. Lunch will be served. We are looking forward to a great day!
Dear Kindergarten Parent(s), We wanted to let you know about some procedures that will be unique to Kindergarteners that first day of school. You may have read that we are not able to allow parents into the building except for the main office. However, we know that Kindergarten parents want to see their student go into their classroom and that first day can be overwhelming for both the student and the parent! We have made it possible for Kindergarten parents to walk with your student right up to the classroom. Just bring your Kindergartener to the south side of the building outside the Kindergarten classrooms. The Kindergarten classrooms have back doors to the classrooms that you will be able to use those first two days. This will allow you to bring your child right up to the classroom and you can see them go into their classroom and find their seat. When you arrive at school on Monday with your student please do not park right in front of the Kindergarten (West) doors. A good place to park would be on the south side of the school. Once you approach the school, you will see a screening station. Your child will have their temperature taken with a touchless thermometer that can read their forehead. If they have a temperature of 100.3 or less, they will be allowed to enter the school. School is dismissed at 12:30 that first day. School will be dismissed on a staggered schedule. Kindergarten students who are not riding the bus will be dismissed at 12:29. If you are picking up your child please be outside the west doors to receive your student at that time. Remember to have your student wear their mask! We are looking forward to a great school year!
This is a reminder for any junior high or high school athlete. You will be required to wear a mask to practices that start tomorrow, August 17th. Masks need to be worn into the building, locker rooms and to practice. At practice you will be required to wear them during meeting or instruction time, but will be allowed to take them off during drills and strenuous activity. The school will have masks to provide if students show up without one. We are looking forward to fun and successful seasons!! Go bears!!
Due to outage with our internet provider, our internet and phones are down. We hope to be up and running soon!

This morning we had a very large water leak in the junior high that sent 2-3 inches of water into the north hallway. In minutes we had administrators, teachers, custodians, and students rushing around with brooms, shop-vacs, and fans to get the water cleaned up. We are blessed to have students and staff so dedicated to helping each other, and taking care of our schools. #goblackbears
