Mrs. Dutton receives award from Aaron Napier, VP of Programming and Community for Ad Astra Radio

March 2023 HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Ad Astra Radio is proud to announce the most recent recipient of the Classroom Hero Award presented by Heartland Credit Union. Betsy Dutton teaches Speech, Debate/Forensics, and Theatre at Sterling High School. She is retiring this year after 41 years in education, all in the Sterling USD 376 district. “I wanted to be able to help kids find their gifts in these areas,” Dutton said. Each month, Ad Astra Radio honors a different educator, selected from community nominations, to receive the Classroom Hero Award, along with a “hero” gift basket, courtesy of community partners Heartland Credit Union, Midway Motors of Hutchinson, Stutzman’s Greenhouse, Hutch Putt, and The Foto Cowboy. A Topeka native, Dutton came to Sterling to attend Sterling College and never left. She and her husband, Dennis, have two sons. “I come from a family of teachers and always thought that was the greatest legacy in the world,” Dutton said. The Classroom Hero Award seeks to highlight the hard work and dedication of those on the front lines of our local schools. Nominations can be submitted at https://www.adastraradio.com/classroomhero.
