Sterling Grade School’s fall Scholastic Book Fair was a big success. We had some extraordinary help that helped to make this book fair very special.

  • A donor paid for every student in three classrooms to get a book from the book fair. Students in Mrs. Dowell’s, Ms. Stallings’s, and Mrs. Briar’s classes were very excited to choose their books.

  • Additionally, we had a generous community member AND a local business, Dos Amigos, who donated funds to help make sure every student was able to buy a book from the book fair.

  • Combined donations from these three donors totaled over $1,200, and we are so grateful.

Check out the amazing generosity of our students, parents, and community members:

  • Parents and students purchased more than 52 books through the "Teacher Wish List" program, providing new books for classroom libraries.

  • Through rounding up at the register and cash donations, we collected $94 for “Share the Fair.” These funds were used to purchase books for the library.

  • Pre-tax sales volume was $6,424. Our library earned 50% of the total in Scholastic Dollars to spend on books from the fair or at an online store to purchase new books and instructional materials.

A HUGE thank you is extended to our school and community volunteers who helped make our book fair successful:  Jamie Burtner, Tracy McGlynn, Chad Farris, Lesa Flickinger, Tashia Gutierrez, Adriana McCorkle, Hilde Heskett, Danielle Mitchell, Cathy Teller, Amy Kosek, Robin Webb, Kristi Wilson, Pansy Fryman, and Melissa Krabbe.

Mark your calendars for the Spring Book Fair. This event will coincide with parent/teacher conferences Monday-Wednesday, April, 12-14, 2027.  Shoppers will again have the opportunity to support SGS and classroom libraries by purchasing books through "Share the Fair" and "Teacher Wish List" programs.

Thank you for supporting literacy in our community.
