USD 376 libraries had an excellent year with a focus on reading promotion and global education.
A highlight of our year was making global connections with students around the world. Through the Global Read Aloud program and Mrs. Brownlee’s Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms fellowship, SGS students had direct communication with students in Uddevalla, Sweden; Meinong, Taiwan; and New York City.
District-wide, we checked out over 23,000 books and brought in $13,063 in outside funding through grants and book fair earnings through the work of district librarian Amy Brownlee, library assistant Michelle Miller, and part-time Sterling College work study aide Hilde Heskett.
Remember to encourage your student to keep reading over the summer. Take a look at the awesome summer reading and learning opportunities available on our Summer Literacy page.
You'll want to take advantage of the Sunflower Summer program that gives preK-12 students and one parent/caregiver FREE tickets to select Kansas attractions July 9 - August 2.
