Sterling Schools is looking for an art teacher to work with our elementary students in grades K-6. The position is 2 days a week through the school year with some additional days for professional development and training. Sterling Grade School has an amazing art room, and our district truly values our fine art programs. Our instructor at SJSHS will be a great mentor for anyone new to teaching art. A teaching degree is preferred, but we may hire an unlicensed candidate. A fully licensed candidate would be placed on the salary schedule which starts at about $19,000 for this part time position and goes up from there depending on education and experience. An unlicensed candidate would need to have a substitute teaching license and would be paid at the long term sub rate, currently $120/day for 82 days. Why Join Us? Exceptionally low turnover: Our dedicated staff is composed of both experienced educators and enthusiastic newcomers. Supportive community: With great support from parents and the local community, SJSHS is a hub of collaboration and engagement. Comprehensive programs: Sterling is known for our exceptional fine arts programs. We also have a wide variety of athletic and co-curricular activities to keep our students engaged. We have an impressive offering of programs and electives for a 2A school. Sterling is a great district with great kids and amazing support from the community. Interested applicants should go to the USD 376 website at https://www.usd376.com/page/employment and complete the application for certified employment.  The complete application packet should be sent to Amy Svaty at: USD #376 Sterling District Office, 308 East Washington, Box 188, Sterling, Kansas 67579 or by email at svatya@usd376.com. The position is open until filled. If you have any questions about this position, please contact Principal Jamie Burtner at 620-278-3112 or by email at burtnerj@usd376.com.
