Dear K-4 Parents: Every year in the music room we start the year learning about and singing folk songs that are special to us. A folk song is a song that is passed down from generation to generation; is about where we live, work, play; can be sad, silly, or serious; and is about us! We celebrate the end of this unit with a hayrack ride around town, singing the songs we have learned and remembering our Kansas pioneer ancestors. At the end of the ride is a delicious s’more as we finish our singing. (Yes, I know our pioneer ancestors did not eat s’mores at the end of the day’s drive in the covered wagon!) This year our ride begins at the grade school and will end in the practice field by the high school maintenance shed. Because the weather looks good we are taking our ride tomorrow. The time your child rides is listed below, if you want to take pictures. Your children can dress up in western clothing if they want to. We recommend long pants and tennis shoes, and a jacket. Such a fun way to enjoy singing together! Musically, Mrs. Anthony Schedule: 8:10-8:40 Kindergarten 8-40 - 9:10 First Grade 9:15-9:45: Second grade 10:15-10:45: Third Grade 10:45-11:15: Fourth grade
